“We don’t walk away”: Khalsa Aid still rebuilding Kerala after floods

NEW DELHI: For many, Kerala floods may be a thing of past, but the Sikh charity organisation Khalsa Aid International is still rebuilding the state.

A recent tweet by the UK-based non-profit aid and relief organization reaffirmed their presence in Kerala even after the cameras have stopped rolling.

“We are STILL in Kerala after the floods last year ! We don’t walk away few days after the disaster… We remain committed,” read the tweet by the Aid.

Talking to IndiaTimes, Amarjeet Singh from Khalsa Aid said, “Currently, we are helping people resurrect their broken lives and for that, we are rebuilding houses and other amenities in Alleppey district. Currently, a team of five members is looking after the rebuilding work and we want to ensure that people’s lives get back to normal as soon as possible.”

He added, “Currently, we have adopted two local schools completely devastated in the floods and we are on revamping the schools so that the children can get back to their studies as soon as possible.”

Known for its philanthropic work at ground-zero, Khalsa Aid not only helping the victims in Kerala but also carried out a dedicated rescue operation in Syria or helped the refugees fleeing Myanmar or orphans in Haiti.
