Urdu University Vice Chancellor Dr Aslam Parvaiz resigns

Hyderabad: In a shocking turn of events Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz has resigned from the post.

According to ‘Telangana Today’, Dr. Parvaiz said that he had submitted his resignation on personal grounds to the university visitor.

However, MANUU Chancellor, Firoz Bakht Ahmed revealed that some allegations including failure to act on complaints of harassment, appointments to the university, misuse of office and funds were levelled against him. He added that a fact-finding committee constituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development had probed them.

TT quoted Ahmed as saying, “The VC did not act on the complaints including ones of harassment levelled by girl students against a professor.”

Dr. Parvaiz, however, denied the allegations saying “This is nothing but a fraud and old issues which were cleared in the past are being unnecessarily brought into limelight.” He asserted that he has resigned from the post only on personal grounds.
