Two women booked for sedition at Sayeedabad

Hyderabad: A sedition case was registered against two women by Sayeedabad police on Friday. According to sources, Shabista and Zille Huma were booked under Section 124A of IPC.

They were booked for their alleged ‘disparaging’ remarks against the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya issue.

Both are the daughters of cleric Maulana Abdul Aleem Islahi. A group of women had held a congregation on Thursday against the Supreme Court verdict in Ayodhya at Sayeedabad Ujale Shah Eidgah grounds.

After performing ‘Qunoot-e-Nazila’ (prayer) the women allegedly raised slogans against the verdict. Taking suo motu action the police registered a case against them.

Police on Friday had tightened security around Makkah Masjid to thwart possible protest after the prayers. Rapid Action Force was deployed near the Makkah Masjid.
