Srinagar receives snowfall

Srinagar: Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir received snowfall on Saturday night.

A resident Jawed Ahmad said, “Due to snowfall, people have got some comfort but at the same time, the troubles too have mounted. For the last three days, there is no electricity. Roads are closed. We appeal to the government to restore electricity. It is difficult even to move.”

Another civilian Khalid said, “Yes there are troubles but there are comforts too because it is a natural beauty here. This will (positively) affect tourism here.”

On November 7, it was reported that due to snowfall in Srinagar, two flights were cancelled. This was the first snowfall after the onset of winter in the region.

The heavy snowfall also lashed Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Uttarakhand on Friday.

Flight operations were adversely affected at Srinagar airport and road traffic between the valley and the Jammu region is also likely to be affected especially through the Mughal Road, an official of the Met department said.

Moderate to heavy snowfall was reported from Srinagar, Rajouri, Batote in Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir,
