Probe in “Kanti Velugu” scheme ordered

Hyderabad: On receiving complaints in the implementation of “Kanti Velugu” (light of the eyes) Scheme, the higher officials of the Directorate of Medical and Health Services instructed State Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. Motilal Naik to reach the District Headquarters of Medak and start investigation about the allegations that some financial irregularities have been committed.

It is reported that despite lapse of several months, utilization certificates were not produced by the concerned officials.

The details of the patients and the spectacles distributed to them were also reviewed. In addition to this, payments made for the transport, fee paid to the doctors were also checked.

During the inspection, Dr. Naik found many spectacles lying in the store rooms.

He expressed his wrath on the officials for not distributing them to the needy patients. For not keeping the details of spectacles online, Dr. Naik admonished the concerned doctors.

The news of Dr. Naik’s inspection created panic among the district medical staff.

It is reported that Dr. Manohar, Addl. District Medical and Health Officer of Medak convened a meeting of the concerned medical officers and elicited the details of distribution of spectacles.

District Medical and Health Officer, Dr. Vijayarani also reviewed all the files pertaining to this scheme. Instructions were given to all the health officers to furnish the details to Director of Medical Services within a month. In case of any violation, the officials will have to face dire consequences.
