Metro Rail in Old City: Questions raised over MIM’s silence

Hyderabad: Mr. G. Niranjan, Spokesman of Congress party while talking to media persons yesterday informed that MIM is not showing any interest for Imliban to Falaknuma Metro Rail Project. He also said that only Rs. 10 lakh has been allocated in the TS Budget for this year.

MIM Floor leader maintained silence

Mr. Niranjan also expressed surprise that Floor Leader of MIM, Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi maintained silence in the Assembly and did not raise this issue.

Mr. Niranjan pointed out that Metro Rail Project in Old City can not be started if sufficient funds are not released.

Commenting on TS Budget, he said that Mr. KCR had declared Telangana a rich state and had also announced that he would present a budget for Rs. 5 lakh crore but the present budget has only Rs. 1.46 lakh crore.

He also pointed out that KCR had earlier said that Hyderabad would be developed on par with Constantinople and Dallas. He mentioned that GHMC has been allotted only Rs. 25.33 crore which is not even sufficient to pay the salaries of the staff.

It may be mentioned that during the past three years, GHMC had prepared plans for Rs. 25 thousand crore for construction of roads.

He also said that for Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, only Rs. 20 lakh has been allocated.

He further mentioned that the work pertaining to the construction of Police Commissionerate at Banjara Hills is in progress with a budget estimate of Rs. 352 crore.

Niranjan advises TS CM

Mr. Niranjan advised the CM to reduce expenses and withdraw the plans for the construction of new Secretariat and Assembly buildings which is nothing but a waste of public money.
