Labour’s fingers, toes cut off for asking payment

In a barbaric incident, two middle-men allegedly cut off fingers and toes of a migrant labourer from Odisha in Maharashtra’s Nagpur.

The only crime of the victim Chamru Paharia was that he had asked for his wages for which he had to lose three fingers and five toes.

According to media reports, the middle-men, Dolal Satnami and Bidesi Sunami took Cahmru and others to work in a building construction site in Nagpur.

When Chamru asked for his wages, the two middlemen allegedly offered liquor.

They not only refused to pay Chamru his wages, but also thrashed him and allegedly chopped off three fingers and five toes of his right hand and leg.

Later, the duo dumped the wounded Chamru at the Nagpur Railway Station.

A team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued and admitted him to a local hospital where he was treated for his infected wound.

The incident came to light after the victim returned to his village and a complaint was filed in this regard with the Komna Police station.

Police has started an investigation into the matter.
