Hyderabad: A Sudanese woman caught for smuggling gold at RGI

Hyderabad: A Sudanese woman was arrested by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) sleuths for smuggling gold from Dubai to the country on Saturday.

According to the report published in Deccan Chronical, police seized nearly 1.8 kilos of gold worth Rs 58.21 lakh from the woman passenger.

The Customs officials suspect her as she travelled 7 times to Hyderabad from Dubai in the past three months.

On Saturday she reached Hyderabad from Dubai at RGI Airport, the AIU sleuths noticed suspicious objects in the hand baggage of a Sudanese woman. “During the checking of the hand baggage the official found 16 gold biscuits wrapped in aluminium foil and covered with black adhesive tape,” said AIU sleuth.

Customs officials were verifying her cell phone data to find out who were the receivers and her handlers were located in Hyderabad.

“She was arrested and further investigation is underway,” said the officials.
