Drunk man killed a canine

HYDERABAD: In an odious incident, a drunk man killed a dog by attacking him with a sickle. The incident took place on Sunday evening in Ghatkesar area.

An animal rights activist, Pravallika Nigam said, I received a call from the owner of the dog around 7 pm on Sunday and we rushed to the spot. The cuts were so big and deep that the internal organs of the dog were visible.

One of the witnesses Premalatha Reddy told that after stabbing the dog, the accused followed him when he hid himself in a bathroom. When we tried to stop the man he threatened us to kill us as well. He allegedly dragged the dog and again attacked the canine with sickle.

The owner of the dog said, “The incident took place at around 4pm when I was not at home. There were multiple injuries on the animal’s body we rushed the dog to a clinic but he died while undergoing treatment.

A case has been registered under Section 429 (Mischief by killing or maiming cattle) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Section 11(1)(a) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1970.
Sub-inspector CH Shekar said the accused will soon be taken into custody.
