Ayodhya Case: Telangana state on alert, Security tightened

Hyderabad: The much-anticipated verdict that will change history once again, has reached its end with Supreme Court to pronounce the verdict in decades-old Ayodhya case in the next 10 days.

The Telangana Police has already begun its preparations ahead of the verdict assessing the situation that could go out of control in the city where the significant Muslim population is witnessed in comparison to other cities or states, TOI reports.

Back in the year 2010 , when the Allahabad High Court was to give the verdict in Ayodhya Case, most areas of Hyderabad city, especially South Zone, then saw a curfew-like atmosphere, due to the unprecedented police restriction.

Now the security arrangements seem similar to that one imposed back in 2010.

The Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) has already issued an alert to the Telangana police which the state police has termed it as a “general alert”.

The City police has too initiated stringent security measures like intensified cordon and search operations, talking to religious heads, organisations and locals.

Responding to a question asked about the security arrangements in Hyderabad, Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said: “Precautionary measures have started and we have been creating awareness among all communities and organisations.’’

Telangana additional director-general of police (Law & Order) Jitender said the police authorities are “watching the situation and that police will take all precautions’’.

The State Police are in talks of seeking additional forces from central paramilitary units. The City police, yesterday, held a meeting with members of different Hindu organisations, including RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal and BJP.

The meeting had discussions of law and order in the state and after the verdict is pronounced.
